SHAW, George Hunter, May 24, 1925 – November 11, 2014. Passed away peacefully, after a short illness, surrounded by loving family at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
Son of the late Clarence and Edith Shaw of Smiths Falls. Beloved husband of 63 celebrated years to the late Patricia Gloria Eileen Shaw (nee Gaylard). Much loved father of Wayne (Diane), Jim (Mary), the late Marian, Ted (Brenda), Karma (Bob) Hepburn, and special cousin Steven (Terry) Tuck. Loving Grandfather to Tammy (Jason) Fairchild, Amy, the late Billy, Jason (Tina), Tim, Jordan (Keeley), Miranda Hepburn (Damien), Lauren (Devin) Black, Emma, Liam. Great-Grandfather to Bryanna and Carter Fairchild, Sophie and Hunter, Luke and Ellyanna, and Mabel Black. George will be sadly missed by his surviving sister Claire, (the late Ken) Lahie, and his surviving brothers Don (Donna) and Jim (Dorothy). George was predeceased by his sisters Marian, Beth, (the late Glenn), Millie, (Bill) Mayberry, and his brother Clarence, (Alice). Uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend to many who will greatly miss him.
George was a Veteran of the Second World War (Sargent), as a Navigator in the R.C.A.F. After his service he had a long career with the Bell Telephone Company, now Bell, as linesman, line foreman & in the engineering department throughout the Golden Horseshoe & Barrie areas until his retirement. George then had a second career as a greens keeper & ice maker in the Barrie area. A golfer, curler and sportsman, his presence, friendship, conversation affection, advice and opinion will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Family and friends will celebrate his life at an Internment ceremony on Saturday November 29, 2014, 10:45 AM, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 19th Street, Jordan Station, Ontario.

We were proud to know him, and even prouder to call him Dad.
