Melvin Sanders

Melvin (Mel) F. Sanders, age 80 of Cookstown ON, passed away unexpectedly at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie ON surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Husband of Gail (Mavor) Sanders and father to Lesley Murray, Michael Sanders and Alyson Sanders. Loving grandfather of Brett and Reese Murray, Rachel and Ryan Sanders and Charlotte Christie. Brother of Jack and George Sanders and predeceased by brothers, Jim and Wayne Sanders. Mel was an avid, engaged member of the Ontario Curling Association and President during 1994/95. He spoke fondly of the friends and memories he made during his curling years.

A celebration of Mel’s life will be held at the COOKSTOWN CURLING CLUB, 18 Church Street, Cookstown on Sunday November 4, 2018 from 1-5 pm. In Mel’s final years, he was plagued by the onset of Lewy Body Dementia. If so desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated.
