Hazel Eileen Peever

December 9, 1925 - July 24, 2020

Funeral Details: To Be Held at a Later Date

Hazel Eileen Peever passed away on July 24, 2020 at Victoria Village in Barrie. She was in her 95th year. She had been slowing down over the years and her passing was not COVID 19 related.

She is predeceased by her parents, Canon Robert L. McLaren and Ida McLaren, by her husband, Douglas Gordon Peever, and by her sisters, Doris, Ida and Margaret.

She is survived by her beloved cousin Jack McLaren and his wife Janice McLaren and by many nieces and nephews.

Eileen graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1946 and accepted her first position in Kirkland Lake where she met her husband. They were married in 1949. He died suddenly in 1971. She also worked in her chosen career in the hospital in Blind River, where they lived for a number of years and spent her final few years working at the hospital in Orangeville.

She enjoyed retirement spending winters in Florida as long as she was able and loved to visit with as many family members - both McLarens and Peevers - during her time in Canada. Her compassionate, caring nature led her to be available when needed to help care for family.

Eileen was a favourite Aunt and liked to show off photos of all of her nieces and nephews, then great nieces and great nephews and finally great, great nieces and nephews. She had a gift for choosing special gifts, especially children’s picture books. She was diligent at keeping in touch with all family members - by telephone call or by written cards and letters.

She will be remembered as a fine lady who lived a good Christian life.

She will be dearly missed by both the Peever and McLaren families along with the many friends that came to know and visit Eileen.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Her cremated remains will be interred with her husband in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
