MAILLEY, Jean Catherine (nee Lightwood)
Taken gently in her sleep after a brief illness on April 7, 2022 at the age of 91. Dearest mother of Susan (David), Chris and Debbie (Frank). Cherished grandmother of Ryan (Melissa), Chelsea (Chace), Shannon, Kristen, Bryan, and the late Blaine. Great-grandmother of Maisy and Malcolm.
Born in England, Jean immigrated to Canada in her twenties. She started out as a legal secretary in Montreal and eventually retired in Barrie, Ontario. She treasured her time in her home in the country near St-Eugene where she was busy keeping cows and groundhogs out of her gardens. She loved to sing, liked to try her luck at the local casino, enjoyed her game shows and a good 'cuppa' tea. She loved Christmas and all the traditions but everyone knew the activities had to come to a halt when it was time for the Queen's message. She adored all of her dogs and was especially attached to her long-lived border collie, Scruffy.
Her biggest love was her family.
She will be sadly missed.
A private family celebration will take place.

Posted on: Thursday, May 5, 2022We miss you everyday Nana. Our Sunday mornings are filled with a great void. I will miss you at the farmers market this summer and will think of you when I pick the most beautiful, ripest tomato. Every time we enjoy a Tim Horton’s treat or walk the yard, we will think of you. Because of you, I will always subconsciously guess the colour of Vanna’s dress when Wheel of Fortune is on the TV.
I will keep our memories close. Forever in our hearts.
Love you always.
