Funeral Details: In accordance with Carmen's wishes there will be no funeral or celebration of life.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen Raquel Heller, 83, of Barrie, Ontario.

Carmen was born in General Paz, Argentina, to the late Isaac and Luisa Heller. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a doctor, and during her residency met Georg Wenckebach, who would become her husband, and the love of her life.

Carmen and Georg moved to Canada in 1971, where they raised their family, and worked hard to create a better life for their children. Carmen worked in multiple fields, including as a researcher at the Sick Kids Hospital of Western Ontario.

She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Andrea (Carlos) of Barrie, Ontario, and Karen (David) of Whitehorse, Yukon. She has four grandchildren: Ben, Jonas, Gabriela and Nadia. She is pre-deceased by Georg, and her sister Zulema. She is survived by her brother, Miguel (Carla).

Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Amica, Little Lake, Barrie who cared for her in the final years of her life.

Always generously welcoming, and thoughtful. When she discovered my love of house plants, she gifted me with one, and let me know the best way to keep it happy and healthy. Her love for her family, especially her husband, was luminous, and welcomed you into that circle with her amazing wit, fabulous cooking, and her love of welcoming her daughter’s friends into their home. Carmen has left her mark on this world in incredible style, and that mark will carry on through her family and all those who knew her.
