Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Stephen Tompkins on April 15, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario.

Father to Adam Tompkins and Jenna Tompkins, and grandfather to Olivia Tompkins, who was the light of his life and gave him deep purpose in his later years. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Alyce Tompkins.

Born with a natural charm and a quick wit, Bruce had a gift for connecting with people. He brought that talent into a long and successful career in car sales, spending most of his professional life with GM in Bracebridge, ON. Known as one of the best in the business, Bruce could light up a showroom and always had a joke or a story at the ready.

He was endlessly proud of Adam’s musical talents and would tell anyone who would listen about his son's band. Jenna was his road trip partner growing up — together they made unforgettable memories exploring the United States, side by side.

The past eight years of Bruce’s life were marked by an unshakable bond with Gary Blackwood, who became a constant and loyal friend, especially through Bruce’s health struggles and path to recovery. Life brought many challenges, particularly in his later years after some serious medical issues, but with the support of friends in Alcoholics Anonymous, Bruce worked hard to find peace and healing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bruce’s memory to Hospice Simcoe www.hospicesimcoe.ca  or Alcoholics Anonymous, both of which provided incredible support during his journey.

My heart goes out to you for the loss of your Dad. I know how much he meant to you. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Bruce was a wonderful man! Everytime I would go to GM to see my mom at work, Bruce would always be there to greet me with a smile and make me laugh. One great memory I have with Bruce is when we were at GM and he had a pamphlet for concerts at the Casino Rama, he hands me the pamphlet and tells me to pick any concert and he will buy me 2 tickets to go to it. I thought he was joking!! He was not joking. He bought me 2 tickets to see Hootie and the Blow Fish!! Bruce was always full of surprises. He was full of life. Bruce will always be missed.
