Wayne Elwyn Wheeler

September 17, 1933 - November 22, 2024

Funeral Details: Private family arrangements

It is with profound sorrow that we had to say goodbye to our Father, Brother, Grandpa/Papa, Great Grandpa, Friend.

On November 22, 2024, we lovingly said our last final Goodbye.  Holding Dads hands, we watched him peacefully and bravely leave this world on his own terms.  It gives our family great comfort knowing so many wonderful friends; much cherished relatives will be waiting to greet our Dad.  His parents Elwyn and Viola, Dads wife Carol, the mother of his daughters and lifelong friend Roberta, all of his cherished animals just to mention a few.

Wayne had a long, happy, accomplished life over his 91 years.  Hard work, resilience, persistence, love and laughter produced a life well lived.

Wayne worked “always”, from humble beginnings as a janitor, to a successful business owner of “Wayne Wheeler and Assoc.”  Even after retirement, Wayne continued working proudly amongst other professionals in the automotive industry.  Dad’s immense love of driving led him to various car dealerships, driving shuttle bus and driving/transferring vehicles long distance.  No matter the time of day or night, Dad was always the first to offer to assist family and friends with transportation to and from the Airport, driving anyone who needed help getting to appointments.  This was Dads passion.

Over and above his love and commitment to his successful business adventures, it was abundantly clear the love he had for his family.  Beautiful homes, trips, parties, swimming pools and always a home renovation on the go is what he thrived on.

In the end years of Dads life, he was always happy to tell of “HIS” plans that were contemplated whilst he lay awake all night instead of sleeping, all for the good of those he loved. From cutting the grass, to picking tile patterns, to organizing spaces, Dad also loved offering excellent financial advice/budgets.  His wisdom was invaluable to say the least.

Dad loved gathering at the kitchen table with family and friends.  He always loved to share a good meal, conversation and laughs.  Always insisting to remember to “feed the lions.”  These cherished times so often ending in one of those treasured silly little songs he would sing.  He was a strong, well respected determined man, as soft and loving as a big Teddy Bear.  That was our Dad.

Wayne is survived by his sister Lara, his children Maureen (Fred), Karen (Stephen), Kimberlee (Steve) and his step son Ryan.  Loved and fondly remembered “Papa” to Brianne, Victoria and Nicholas, “Grandpa” to Valerie, Brandon, Travis, and Justin, “Great Grandpa” to Emily, Jeffery, Sophie, Ella Rose, Ryan and Kayden.

A special thanks to Ray Elsley…Thank you for all you did.

Also special thanks to Dr. Mossman and Dr. Morris, there could not have been two more caring and compassionate Doctors to guide Dad through his final journey home.

In keeping with Wayne’s wishes cremation has already taken place.  A donation made to Hospice Simcoe, in Wayne’s memory is what he would have greatly appreciated.

Peaceful Transition Simcoe
