My beautiful and loving grandmother meant a great deal to me and my husband Jason. It’s been hard knowing she’s been dealing with poorer health these past years and not being able to do anything to help. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone. Would help underprivileged families at Christmas, fundraise for families, churches, and charities and always thought of others. She taught me many useful and valuable skills in life including baking, sewing, stained glass (with the guidance of my late Papa) and outdoor skills when camping. She loved to joke around and adored my husband. She was at every major event in my life and was a major contributor in who I am today. I loved her greatly and will cherish all the memories I have of and with her. I believe she is with Papa now and is finally at peace. Rest easy, and look out for the rest of us you two <3

I don’t usually like people. But I liked you a lot. You were a deep thinker who wasn’t afraid to shoot from the hip. You always brought a smile to my face.

I’ll see you further down the trail Cheryle.

    -Benny

I am deeply saddened by Cheryle’s passing. I have been a close friend of the family for over 40 years and truly enjoyed the time we spent together. I could stop in anytime and was welcomed with a smile and an invite to visit. She was so easy to talk to and well versed on so many things.
Additionally she was such a family person, the close relationship with her brother (and my good friend) Dale was extraordinary to his final days. Her door was always open to friends and family and this is a huge loss for many people.

Some people were just meant to be Mothers….
Even after raising 3 children of her own, my mother continued to be a role model for many other children throughout her life. She was a caregiver to Katie Mackenzie and stood by her side through Katie’s short life. She went on to be a nanny to John Doughtington’s two daughters and seen them grow into wonderful young ladies, just as she did for the Douglas families 3 daughters. She then became the housekeeper and nanny to the Emslie family and helped to raise their daughter Allison. After seeing all those children grow up she then took it upon herself to look after the elderly. Mr and Mrs Patton, Mrs Matthew’s and countless others whom also should be mentioned but my memory can’t recall.
She was the strongest person Ive ever know and after winning her TWO battles with breast cancer went on to care for her late husband Bill in his final days. Most recently she had her brother Dale, my uncle, move in with her so that she could care for him when his disease began to overwhelm his body until his passing just over a year ago.
Those who were fortunate enough to had met or befriended my mother were blessed by her “saint like” qualities and were always welcomed at her door at anytime. Her smile was contagious and her love for animals is shared throughout all her children. No creature was too small or too big for her heart .
I wish to thank all of those who had a chance to voice their sympathies and to share in some part of her life. I know her “mark” will be left on all the hearts she touched as a symbol of what “to live life” truly means.
You will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Your Loving son Mark.
