Passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025 at the age of 81 years. Son of the late Graham and Sylvia (née Sloan). Beloved husband of Ann (née Wilson). Loving father of Stephen (Kristine). Proud grandfather of Shaughnessy, Keanu, Kaeleigh, and KaiPhoenix. Dear brother of Cynthia (the late Ray).
A lifelong sailor, Nigel had a deep passion for boats and the sea. He spent nearly his entire career as a marine engineer and marine radar technician, earning a reputation for being meticulous, knowledgeable, and always willing to lend a hand. With a keen eye for detail and a talent for fixing just about anything, Nigel became a trusted resource to countless marina and boat owners, often dropping everything to offer support when needed.
At the age of 16, Nigel obtained his amateur radio operator certification (HAM Radio) and remained active in this field throughout his life. He was known as “G3RVB” in England and “VE3GH” in Canada.
British through and through, Nigel was known for his dry sense of humour and carried himself with the quiet pride and grace of a proper English gentleman, right up to the end.
A Celebration of Life gather will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, feel free to drop in between 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall. Bring your favourite memory or anecdote of Nigel to share.

Posted on: Monday, August 18, 2025Ann & family, We only just heard of Nigel’s passing from a neighbor. Our heartfelt condolences to you all. It’s been too long since we’ve seen you, actually a number of years but we live around the corner from you. We’ve spoken of you both often and remember fondly our meetups, either on the street or when we were in your backyard watching our dogs play. Nigel was such a wonderful man, was such a pleasure to talk to and we know he will be missed so much. Our hearts go out to you. Love Liz & Adam Cherer
