Fredrick Joseph Shields passed away on November 6, 2025, at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Lindsay. Ont.

Fred was born in Ottawa and spent most of his life in King Township.  He graduated with a degree in sociology and built his own home with his wife, Gail Goldthorpe.  Fred and Gail spent a short time in Aurora before her passing.

In 2012, Fred moved to Bobcaygeon and lived in the community of Victoria Place.  After moving to a retirement home, Fred moved to Lindsay.

Fred worked in the role of an analyst for a variety of companies: Stirling Drug, Volvo, Canada Bread, and Good Humor Beyers to name a few.

Fred will be missed by his brother-in-law Ken Goldthorpe and sisters-in-law Evelyn Crocker and Denise Foster, as well as their children and his friends from Victoria Place.

At Fred’s request, there will only be a graveside burial on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Aurora Cemetery (14253 Yonge St, Aurora, ON) - Meet at the cemetery gates.  Fred will rest beside his wife, Gail.

    Over the past 4 years Fred was a pleasure to speak with and service. I trust he will be missed and my condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in peace.
