The family of Jean “Jeannie” Marie Blair (Pettipas) regret to announce her passing on January 16, 2026, after a long and courageous struggle with cancer.
Jeannie was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Blair and Helen Jean Blair (née Wallace). She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph Pettipas (1996); her son, Frankie Pettipas (October 10, 2024); her partner of 38 years, Phillip Scherger (May 22, 2017); her brother, James Blair (2019); and her brother-in-law, Ray Decoste (June 2025).
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Pettipas; her cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline and Vincent; her sisters, Beverly Decoste and Frances Blair-Harper; her brother-in-law, James Harper; and her only surviving aunt, Kathleen Chisholm (née Wallace).
Jeannie enjoyed crocheting blankets and was well known for her exceptional cooking. She was an avid reader, often having several books on the go at once. She possessed a brilliant mind with an extraordinary memory for details. Above all, Jeannie was deeply determined, a strength that carried her through both the joyful and challenging moments of her life.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held “down home” in Antigonish in August 2026. Details will be shared on the Peaceful Transition website.
The family would like to thank the Coleman Care Centre for the wonderful care and support over the last 8 ½ years.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
