Ron passed away peacefully, on Jan 29, 2026, just days after his 89th birthday.
Ron was born in Lawrence, MA. He had an older brother, Richard (deceased) and a much loved younger sister, Carol, of New Hampshire.
Joining the U.S. Air Force in 1954, Ron enjoyed his service, working as a mechanic servicing aircrafts. He left the service in 1957.
Ron married Eileen in 1954 and was blessed with two beautiful children, “his” Debbie in 1956 (Dennis), and his son, Ricky in 1958 (Debbie), who passed in 2022.
Ron married his second wife, Betty, in 1965 and became a loving stepfather to her two daughters, Robin and Sally. Ron worked as Ranch Foreman on a Cattle Ranch and often spoke of his love of horses and of his time there. He also worked construction but Ron found his true calling as a driver of tractor trailers. He worked for several companies in his long career and was owner/operator of his own company, having purchased his own new Western Gold Star tractor trailer. Short hauls, long hauls, Ron could drive anything in the USA and was very proud of his drivers license endorsements. Ron and Betty had a kennel and a cattery and raised Saint Bernards and Persians. Betty had a used bookstore and together they travelled to garage sales on weekends, finding interesting items to sell in her store. Ron loved his Harley and rode motorcycles for most of his life. Ron and Betty had 38 wonderful years together until her passing in 2003.
In 2011, Ron became a permanent resident of Canada and married Anna Jamieson of Barrie, becoming step-father to Anna’s two adult daughters, Ruth & Faye. Anna & Ron lived on a hobby farm on the outskirts of Barrie/Oro where they spent many happy years cutting miles of grass, feeding thousands of beautiful birds, and puttering in paradise. They travelled to the tropics ad camped in Canada and USA in their motorhome. In 2009, Anna suffered the first of four strokes and Ron cared for her as only one deeply in love can do. Even through her illnesses, Anna and Ron had fun and celebrated their joy with family and friends both near and far.
After losing Anna in 2023, Ron came to live at Allandale Station in 2024 where he had such a fun time! He loved the community, the staff, and the friendships. He thrived and enjoyed kibitzing with one and all. In October 2025, Ron drove his last trip home to his beloved family, friends and New Hampshire. Ron was the proud Grandpa of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Our heartfelt condolences and thanks go out to everyone at Allandale Station who made his last years so truly meaningful and happy.
