Cynthia Patricia Hamlyn, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario on April 9, 2026.

Survived by her sisters, Janet Paonessa (Gino Paonessa) and Caara Kardell, children, David Hodgson, April Lafreniere (Scott Lafreniere), grandchildren, Coby Lafreniere (Cho Ting Mok) and Jesse Lafreniere, step-grandchildren, Makalya Blake, Carson Blake and Rieley Blake, reunited with her father William Dawson, her mother Iris Dawson, and her brother Bruce Dawson.

Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, she lived in many places in Canada over the years, but eventually moved to Parry Sound, Ontario, and lived there for the last 30 years. She worked as a high school teacher until her retirement. Cynthia was a devote Christian and attended the Bayside Family Church in Parry Sound. After retirement, she was member/president of the seniors centre in Parry for many years.

Cynthia had a summer trailer where she spent most of her summers for 20 years, creating wonderful memories with her family and friends.  Cynthia loved bingo, reading, swimming, spending time with her family, friends and, being a Christian.

All are welcome and the funeral will be held at the Bayside Family Church in Parry Sound, Ontario on April 16, 2026 at 11:00 am, located at 4 Parry Sound Drive, Parry Sound, P2A 2X2.
