Mary Jane Cake

Mary Jane Cake (nee Patterson) aged 88, passed away at Southlake Regional Hospital on September 25, 2026.

After a hard- fought battle of complicated medical problems, Mom passed away peacefully. Surviving family with her at bedside, son Jeffrey “Jeff” and daughter-in-law Lynda Reilly-Cake, and her grand-children Victoria Cake, and Brianna Cake, were holding her hand and telling her she is loved and adored.

Mary Jane was preceded in death and will be reunited with her father Samuel Patterson, her mother Margaret Patterson (nee Blair), and her brothers Samuel James Patterson, and William Richard Patterson.

Born December 4, 1938, in Toronto, Ontario where she lived and worked most of her life, she successfully raised a son as a single working parent. She retired in 1997, and shortly after moved to Richmond Hill, Ontario to be closer to family.

In accordance with her wishes there will be a cremation and no formal funeral service. Interment and Celebration of Life details will be announced at a later date.

If desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southlake Regional Health Centre at Donation Form - Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation and to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada at MS Canada.
