Gordon “Gord” Walter Cairns

January 14, 1955 - October 1, 2026

Funeral Details: Burial and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Gord passed away peacefully at the Margaret Bahen Hospice (Newmarket), surrounded by love while music played. He lived a beautiful, full life with his wife Brenda. He enjoyed travel, sport, beach walks and being with family and close friends.

In addition to Brenda, he is survived by his siblings- either by blood or by marriage- Doug (Jo, Ackerley), Kevin (Sheila), Jane (Craig, JJ, Kevin), Kevin (Michelle, Chris, Tim), Margaret (Stacey, Cameron) and Michael (Vicki, Kelsey, Shannon, Shayne).

Gord lived his life with a loving and positive attitude, inspiring many. A quiet person, he never missed a trick, even during his illness. He was so happy to be able to join friends and family on Labour Day for a celebration filled with laughter and love.

In the past years, he was cared for by a number of wonderful caring doctors and health professionals. Both Gord and Brenda were supported by a network of close family and friends, particularly during the last several months.

We kindly ask that donations be made, in his name, to an organization which will benefit from his niece, Shannon, shaving her head for cancer, please use the link: Wigs For Kids or make donations to a charity of your choice.

Burial and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
