Johannes “John” Kooy

Passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 92 years.

Born in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada in 1956, eventually making his home in Toronto.  He began his career as an architectural draftsman before becoming a specialist in the design and engineering of exterior building materials.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage after meeting by chance while on a ski trip in Austria.

A proud and devoted father, he will be lovingly remembered by his sons, John (Saskia), and Dave (Toni), and by his cherished granddaughter, Ayla, who knew him as Opa.

He embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity.  He enjoyed travelling, skiing, sailing, and, above all, spending time at the family cottage on Go Home Lake.  A lifelong student of the world, he had an insatiable curiosity and was always eager to learn about current affairs, world history, and places both near and far.

With his circle complete, he has passed on to make room for another.

Private family arrangements have been entrusted to Peaceful Transition.
