Our son, brother, husband, father, nephew, and friend Mark died at home, as he wished, on September 30, 2026 in the loving presence of his family. Beloved son of Chuck and Barbara Vessey. Amazing husband of Darla Hutchinson. Proud and devoted father to Gabe and Piper. Mark will be deeply missed by his brother Michael and Michael’s children, Gracin, Ellamay, and Layla. He was a caring stepfather to Justin and Chelsea and special Papa to Christopher and Lila, embracing Darla’s family as his own. Mark will be greatly missed by extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A man of varied interests and talents, he “ran away to join the circus” at the age of nineteen, teaching flying trapeze at Club Med. Mark was a snowboard instructor, also racing on the FIS circuit.
As the owner of Memorial Automotive since 2008, Mark was a respected businessman in the Orillia community. Looking forward to retirement he became a certified Marine Captain, an accomplishment of which he was very proud.
Mark had been retired just two months before his diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer. In typical Mark fashion, he faced this challenge with courage and determination, focusing on spending time with his family and friends. We would like to thank his care team Dr. Ng, RVH, NP Joanne Matte, RN’s Sherry-anne and Tammy as well as Dr. Tony Reed for their compassionate and professional care over the last 14 months.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life at the Brewery Bay Food Co., 162 Mississauga St. E., Orillia, on Saturday, November 14th, in the Higher Ground event space, from 1-4 PM. Come share stories, tears, and of course laughter with us.
Take more pictures.
Always say I love you. Hug a little tighter.
Talk a little longer.
Make as many memories as you can.
This Life is short.
