Funeral Details:

Barry Relf

Passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2015 at the age of 78 years due to lung disease.

Born in Canterbury, Kent, England, Barry immigrated to Canada in the 1960s and worked in an engineering capacity for a number of years before accepting a consulting position with the Federal Business Development Bank in Barrie. In the later stages of his career he was instrumental in the creation of the Community Business Initiative Program in Barrie in which he assisted entrepreneurs and small employers in establishing and expanding their businesses.

He is survived by wife Jane and father to seven children/step children, grandpa to twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Survived by his brother James in England. Barry was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Shanty Bay Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of the Golf Historical Society of Canada and the Gold Collector’s Society of the United States. He regularly played “hickory” events in southern Ontario and particularly enjoyed the annual trek to Niagara on the Lake for the CB MacDonald Challenge in which he participated on the Canadian team for many years. Over the years he made many friends and will be remembered for his loyalty and willingness to help those in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Darlene and Kirk Harrison in Utopia on Saturday September 19, 2015 from 2-6pm. Donations to be made to the SPCA on his behalf as he loved his dog Molly very much; or to a charity of your choosing on his behalf. Cremation has been completed by Peaceful Transition Inc.
