Catherine Jane Borgmeyer, age 67, of Oro-Medonte, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Hospice Simcoe. Cathy was born on September 25, 1958, to Tom and Betty Biggs Cathy grew up in Burlington, Ontario. She was a woman of remarkable intelligence, strength, and warmth. She was a graduate in Civil Engineering from McMaster University. She practiced engineering in both Toronto and Barrie. She brought a sharp mind and a strong work ethic to every part of her life.

Known for her athletic and adventurous spirit, Cathy embraced life fully. It was through her love for the outdoors that she met the love of her life, Jeff, in the summer of 1984. They shared a beautiful life together for over 40 years. Whether she was windsurfing, skiing, traveling the world, or capturing life through photography, she lived every moment to its fullest.

At home, Cathy found great joy in reading and music, often becoming absorbed in whodunnit mysteries and thrillers. She held a deep appreciation for live music and held dear memories of the many concerts she attended. Her love for animals was constant. She raised her children in a home shared with two cats, and in later years, her beloved dog, Mocha, joining the family.

Above all, Cathy was deeply devoted to her family and valued every moment spent together. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeff; her children, James (Mandy) and Erin (Jeremy); and her grandsons, Jacob and Caleb. She will be missed by her sister, Lisa (Jim); nephews, Mike (Caroline) and Ryan (Zara); along with her in-laws, Ron, Gerda, and Judy (Bill); her aunt Penny (Robin) and cousins John (Anna), Ryan, and Katie (Mike).

Cathy had Huntington Disease which compromised her ability to enjoy life to its fullest in her last few years. Memorial donations can be made on the Canadian Huntington Society website https://www.huntingtonsociety.ca/ .

Cathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, kindness, and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.

Lovingly referred to as “Cathy B” to all of us who knew her in the Book Club…I think back to a “Gal’s Trip” to Cuba several years ago, and the sun illuminating Cathy’s wild main of hair in the front seat of the van, as we headed to the Bay of Pigs for an afternoon of snorkelling and lobster cooked on the beach over an open fire. Or running through the streets of New Orleans back to our hotel (high on life and a few cocktails)…and Cathy’s laugh and dimples! Rest in peace, Cath and condolences to Jeff, Jamie, Erin and family.

    Jeff, Jamie and Erin,

We were very sad to her about Cathy’s passing. As you well know, she was a bright ray of sunshine, positive, happy and very astute. We enjoyed playing volleyball with her and getting together to celebrate our losses (well mostly losses) at the Lockerroom. She was well read, knowledgeable and it was not uncommon for her to correct you if what you said didn’t map up with her vast mental data base. We cherished her and our great memories of her should help carry all of us forward.

Long live Cathy! If we can help in anyway, please just let us know.

    Dan, Roz and family!

I was so very sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing. She was the loveliest neighbour. She always stopped to chat and always with a smile. Cathy’s easy going nature helped Mocha and my once cray puppy Pearl become friends. It was so heartwarming.

    RIP Cathy.

    Dear Jeff, Jamie and Erin,

It is so sad to see a brilliant mind like Cathy’s slowly become quiet and withdrawn. It has been hard on the entire family and the friends who knew her well. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will always have a place in all of your hearts.

Jeff, you were an amazing care giver for her when life became too complicated. You cared deeply and we believe you were a great comfort as things progressed. She will be looking down on each member of her family, with an enduring love and much gratitude.

It is never easy to say goodbye to someone who has left such an indelible mark upon your existence.

We believe she is still with you in spirit and will always watch over each of you.

Our deepest condolences to the entire family.

    Doug and Valerie Samson

Cathy and I met at Gore and Storrie, and were 2 of the 3 women Professional Engineers in the company. I had been there about 3 years already. Our professional relationship evolved into a longtime friendship even after I had moved on to work elsewhere. I was married and we socialized much with Cathy. Such a beautiful, intelligent, active young woman! When we first met Jeff, the 4 of us out to dinner, I knew and Angelo agreed, yes, Jeff was the one! Clearly he was and they never looked back. Cathy with Jeff had such a full life. We were fortunate to share in the time we had together also with our respective families. We know Cathy as wife, mother and grandmother will be so deeply missed (I will miss her friendship deeply). We are thinking of all of you, Jeff, Jamie, Erin, and family, in this most difficult time.
    Our deepest condolences,
    Livia and Angelo Mattacchione
