Dalton KEITH Taverner passed away on April 8, 2023 – a week shy of his 85th birthday.  Keith was born to the late George and Thelma Taverner in the small community of Allan’s Corners, just east of Gravenhurst.  He was the 7th of 10 children.  He is predeceased by brothers, Cliff and Hartley, and by sisters Ruth (the late Milton Johnston), Dawn (the late Garnet Mack), Gwen Kennedy, and Shirley (the late Arnold Chamberlain).  He is mourned by brothers Elton and Doug (Butch), and sister Velma (the late Bob Quick).  Keith is also predeceased by his wife, Sheila (Harper), and together their family included the late Roger, Tracy (Tim Baverstock), the late Pamela and the late Rhea (Charles High).  He is Poppa to Alanna, Stephen, George, Connor, Diane, Clinton, Aaron and Samantha and he is Great-Grandpa, or “Poppa Keith” to many granddaughters and grandsons, all of whom he is so very proud.

Keith possessed a unique laugh that distinguished him to his family, friends and co-workers.  “Yuk Yuk” or “Uncle Yuk Yuk” loved to laugh, tease and tell lots of stories, jokes and tall tales, which endeared him to everyone.  He had a nickname for almost everyone he knew.  He was an outdoor enthusiast, and loved the opportunity to go fishing, ice-fishing, and hunting.

As per Keith’s wishes, he has been cremated.  There will be a combined Celebration of Life for Keith and Rhea on June 24th, 2023 at Kerr Park, Bracebridge.
