Funeral Details:

DIX, Daphne Ann

It is with great sadness that the family of Daphne Ann Dix announces her passing due to complications following surgery for esophageal cancer on Sunday April 8, 2018 at the age of 75 years.  Daphne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jennifer, Ashley and Stephen.  She will also be greatly missed by her seven grand children Kyle, Kelly, Ryan, Sarah, Michelle, Derek and Jay, her sisters Yvonne, Julie, Carol and brother Ray. Daphne was predeceased by her brother Brian and husband of 50 years, Brynley.

Our special thanks to the wonderful nurses at Royal Victoria Hospital who made her final days as comfortable as they could possibly be.  In the words of one of her nurses, Daphne was a "sweet, sweet lady" - she touched many people in her life with her kindness, her ready smile and her wonderful sense of humor.

Daphne was a long-time employee of Walmart in South Barrie and will be missed by all those she worked with.

A celebration of life in memory of Daphne will be held on Sunday April 15, 2018 from 1 to 5pm at Wickie's Pub, 274 Burton Avenue in Barrie.

My second mother, you were a huge part of my life. I am going to miss your hugs and kisses and sweet smile. You were a gentle soul, but told it like it was. I know you are with dad now in his loving arms. You will always be in my mind and heart. Love you so much Sweet Angel.  Sue.

So sad to hear the news.
It is a loss to all those who loved her so much.  We know that she is in  a better place now with her hubby and that is some small comfort for those she’s left behind.

She was like a second mom to me growing up and I will think back on those days with a smile on my face.

Hugs and warm wishes to all that loved her.

My wonderful sister who was one very special lady. Though we lived miles apart you always felt so close, distance is nothing when you love someone and I loved you so very much. My heart is aching I know in time the pain will ease  I take comfort knowing that you are now at peace and even though you may not be here the memories will stay forever. Sleep tight my wonderful sister. Love you.

Even though I hadn’t seen Mrs. Dix in at least 40 years I am sadden by her passing.  Growing up with her daughter Jennifer and hanging out for 10 years you get to know a person.  The first thing that comes to mind as I read her obituary was that she always made us laugh.  She was kind and generous and my heart goes out to Jenn and her family.
