It`s with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Albert Hale (aka The Mayor of Marten River) on July 7, 2017 in his 79th year. Loving father to Larry (Rose), Geoffrey (Kerry) and Tracey. Proud Grandfather to Connor, Courtney, Craig, Katie, Erin and Kevin. Don was a Jockey for many years winning many prestigious races and later went on to be the Manager of the Jockey`s Benefit Association until he retired. Despite having a severe stroke over 4 years ago, Don never lost his sense of humour and put a smile on everyone’s face that he met.
A private memorial will be held for Don at his home on Marten River. Donations in Don`s honour can be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
