Douglas George Thomas Smith (Doug/Dougie)

September 30, 1953 - August 30, 2025

Funeral Details: See the notice for details

It is with profound sadness, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, that we announce the passing of our beloved Doug.

Doug was predeceased by his mother, Annie Dumoulin (Bob), his father, Thomas Everett Smith, and his buddy, Elliott.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and sidekick of 50 years, Rose; his cherished daughter, Carrie, and his son-in-law, Jay.  Adored by his grandchildren Jake, Poppy and Eli, and his great granddaughter, Rosie.  Doug is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Ron), Brenda (Lee), and Debbie (John), his brothers-in-law, Carmen (Joanne), Gerry, and Mario, as well as many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Doug found joy in his semi-retirement working at the Nottawasaga Golf Course, where he loved being outdoors and connecting with others.  He was easy to talk to, quick with a story, and always ready for a good joke!

Doug will be remembered for his humour, his big heart, his strong work ethic, and the way he was always there as a true friend to those who needed him.  While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that his memory will live on in all of us who loved him. We will miss you forever, Dougie.

A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2025 at the Briar Hill Community Center, 4783 C.W. Leach Rd., Alliston, from 1-4  pm.

Memorial contributions in honour of Doug can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.  Please specify your donation to Head and Neck Cancer research.
