It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Douglas “Dougie" Poff, who departed this life on Wednesday April 16th at the age of 73.

Doug was full of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering integrity, Doug leaves behind a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Born on January 21st 1952 in the Bancroft area, Doug lived a life marked by purpose and compassion. From an early age, Doug possessed a rare ability to uplift others through words, through actions, and simply through presence. Whether in personal relationships, professional pursuits, or acts of quiet generosity Doug gave fully and selflessly.

Outside of work, Doug was known for his love of spending time with friends; playing pool, darts, card games, long conversations over a beer, and jokes shared among them.

He was our protector, our safe space, our shoulder, our funny-bone.  We loved when he entered our room because you knew there was going to be great and loving moments.

Doug is survived by his best friend and "sister" Joanne Watson and his near and dear CW Coop's family full of lifelong friends.

He is now resting peacefully alongside his son Sheldon Poff who passed in August of 2024

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Doug lived a life of deep meaning and left this world better than he found it with every person he knew.  The impact he made will continue to ripple through every life he touched. It didn’t matter who you were, how old you were or where you came from, he became our brother, our dad, our grandfather, and our best friend.

Doug you will be greatly missed and remembered, until we meet again.

Doug my brother I will forever miss your phone calls, texts and most of all our heartfelt conversations. Your wisdom when we played pool together or not made me the player I am today thanks to you. You Doug made me a stronger and tougher man than I ever could imagine. I thank god everyday since you passed and before that I had you in my life. In the fire service we have a saying “Gone but never forgotten”. You will always be in my heart and on my mind my brother. May you rest peacefully with Sheldon. One last time for you in your name, cheers. Until we meet again.
    Brad

Doug was a truly good friend—someone whose kindness, humor, and loyalty made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. It’s hard to imagine the days ahead without him and creating more memories however we find comfort in the memories we’ve shared and the way he made all of our lives better just by being in them.

Our heart goes out to his friends and family and everyone who loved him.

Greatly miss you my friend. It’s still hard to believe that you had left this world. But a blessing to know that you are safe and always be remembered. I love you Douglas

It’s taken me sometime to think about what to say about Doug
He was the first person to welcome both me and Avery to the CW Coop’s family and excepted everyone else from the Stockley clan to the bar as well.
Doug was the person that always put a smile on your face when you walked through the door and would greet you with sarcastic manner you come to expect.
He wore his heart on his sleeve and supported everything and everyone who walked into our form of Cheers.
I can’t believe I won’t hear the call out from who ever was there “Dougie” when he entered just like “Norm”was always announced.
He took the passing of his son really hard but was returning to his old self
I had the pleasure of attending a few Colts games with Doug and he really enjoyed that and also supported anything I did for the girls sports including winning high hand at the poker night I had for volleyball and also gave to my efforts for hospice Simcoe last year even though he felt we over took his beloved pool tournaments

Doug you will be forever remembered and I know Charlie girl was really looking forward to having you there for her first shift at the bar and Amelia too would have loved serving you her official first drink as a server.
