George E. Smith

It is with profound sadness and much love that the family of George Edward Smith announce his passing on November 24, 2025, at the age of 83 years, after a lengthy illness.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Terri, after 34 years together; daughter: Janice; stepsons: Michael (Katrina) and Shane (Jen); grandchildren: Tyler, Charles, Tommy, Lucas and Seth; brother: Mike (Louise).

He was predeceased by sisters: Pat and Marlene; brother: Bob; and parents: Irene and George.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, George loved the East Coast and visited several times to vacation. He devoted over 40 years to a career with Canadian Tire Corporation, working in Barrie and North York, Ontario and Lethbridge, Alberta in various management positions. He loved to play guitar, sing, listen to country music, and Elvis.

A small Memorial Service will be held on Thursday Dec 11, 2025, at 430 Ferndale Dr. S, Ferndale Gardens Apartments, 4th Floor – Social Room at 2 PM.

The family would like to thank the Simcoe County Community Paramedic Services, particularly Shannon Bacci, and Hospice Simcoe for their care and compassion.
