It is with a profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Hendrika (Henny) Van Der Linde on July 3, 2025 in the presence of loved ones at Mill Creek Centre in Barrie, Ont.
Henny was born on Jan. 17, 1935 in De Haag, Netherlands.
Henny is survived by Johannes (Joop) Van Der Linde, her husband of 72 years, who continues to reside at Mill Creek.
Henny and Joop moved to Canada in 1953, with their infant son, Hans, in 1954 and settled in their life-long home in the Bradford area, where they raised their family.
Henny is fondly remembered by her children John (Hans), Rick and Bonnie, her grandchildren Robin, Chris, Erin, Taylor, Dylan, Megan, David and Maddy. Henny is also survived by nine great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Ronald, and her grandson Michael Van Der Linde.
Henny was known for her infectious smile and her lively blue eyes, both of which marked a gregarious personality that often made her the centre of attention in social gatherings.
She and Joop were inseparable during good times and bad, celebrating life’s successes and enduring its hardships together.
Henny especially enjoyed her years working in nursing homes as a PSW in Bradford and Newmarket, often regaling family and friends in humorous and heartfelt stories about her patients and co-workers.
A tireless gardener during her many years with her family at their home on Concession 8 in BWG, she was always pleased and proud when someone complimented the property.
It was also telling that the healthcare professionals who
cared for Henny at both Roberta Place and in Mill Creek in Barrie commented on her pleasant and gentle nature in her later years.
Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
