It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mum, Janet Pickard, a great woman and true lady. Janet was born January 7th, 1935 in England and passed away Wednesday July 5th, 2017 sur-rounded by love.
Her favourite pasttime was golfing with her friends on the fairways of Bear Creek Golf Course. Mum was loved by all who knew her. She touched the hearts of many, andloved and valued her local community and all her friends. She was referred to as "The Lady". Mum was predeceased by her husband Harry, the love of her life; mother, Annie; father, Charlie; and sister, Mary. Janet leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children: Julie of London, England, Colin of Oakville, and Sara of Alliston; grand-children: Alison (Jeff), Mike (Eve), Lindsey (Eric), Darren and Jackson; great-grandchildren: Jeremy and Eleanor; sister and life-long best friend and true soul mate: Patricia (Phil) Murphy of England.
We would like to personally thank Dr. Li and the incredible staff at RVH, the amazing Saint Elizabeth homecare nurses, Matthew's House Hospice, all her friends and neighbours who continually helped and supported Mum in so many ways. We can't thank you all enough.

Posted on: Sunday, July 16, 2017We were so sorry to hear of the death of your mother Janet and send our deepest sympathy to all the family.
Met up with your parents again in 1959/60 in Etobicoke after being in the Royal Artillery 1946 with Harry (Roger) – he was a great friend.

Posted on: Thursday, February 22, 2018Janet and I were neighbours and friends in childhood. We attended the same junior school and were good friends. We were married in the same year and I was her bridesmaid and she and Harry together with her parents (Mr and Mrs Waters) attended mine. We moved to Lincolnshire and Janet and Harry came up to see us before their emigration to Canada. At first we corresponded by mail and as the years went by we moved onto e mails. This way we kept in touch for 60 years and I retain all her letters. My husband Alan had the same interest in golf and would always add to my letters about their games and handicaps etc. When the e mails stopped I feared the worst and waited to hear from my friend then found the obituary online. We shall miss her and the news of her family dearly.
