On February 13, 2026, Margaret “Peggy” Bain Olds (née Anderson) went to her eternal home.
Peggy was 104, born on September 11, 1921, in Montreal Quebec. After completing high school, Peggy worked at Salada Tea where she met the love of her life, Eric Arthur Olds. In fact, it was Eric who highlighted her application because he liked her neat handwriting. They were married on March 25, 1944.
In 1957 they, along with Heather and Alison, moved from Montreal to Toronto, living first in Don Mills, then Etobicoke in 1960. Rosemary joined the family in 1962. Peggy worked for several years for the Etobicoke Public Library in the Business department and then in Personnel from 1972 until retirement in 1986.
In 2014 Peggy followed Rosemary and Craig Lucas and moved to The Waterford in Barrie. She stayed there for 10 years when she moved to Roberta Place Long Term Care facility due to health issues.
Peggy and Eric enjoyed travelling, playing bridge, and were active in church activities. Peggy enjoyed reading, sewing, needlework and crosswords until her eyesight made that impossible. She will be remembered for her indomitable spirit. Despite several falls, including having 2 broken hips in her late 90’s, Peggy was determined to walk and return to her apartment at The Waterford, which she did.
Peggy is predeceased by her husband, Eric, just one week shy of their 69th wedding anniversary, and is missed by her children: Heather Adams (Rich), Alison Miller (Don), Rosemary Lucas (Craig): 4 grandchildren: Karen Buckley (Chris), Jennifer Ziegler, Jessica Lucas, Michael Lucas; 3 great grandchildren: Connor Buckley, Kaylen Ziegler and Natalie Ziegler; niece, Janet and nephew, Tom.
A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will take place Friday, August 7th, 2026 at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Shanty Bay, at 1:00 p.m.
Peggy’s daughters would like to thank all the personal support workers, and nurses at The Waterford and Roberta Place who gave Mom such loving care. We would also like to thank Judy from Trustwell Senior Care for her friendship and care for Mom for these past 5 years.
Donations may be made to Peggy and Eric’s favourite charity, Sleeping Children Around the World
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus
died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen
asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
