Bro Shitu,as I fondly call you, writing this is a bit difficult as I had no clue it would be this soon.

Your demise has dealt with us another blow of the many we have had to deal with in our life time.

You are caring, easy going, dependable, and deligent in all your dealings, time conscious, always on time and never late.

It is so sad to see you go.

Bro Kunle,it is really heart breaking that death took you away from us.

This is too much pains to bear, though you will be missed, let your passing not be a period of grief and silence but a joy occasion, for you are finally having a peaceful rest, continue to rest in the bosom of your creator my brother.

This must be one of the most difficult task for me to perform, to write a condolence message about you Kunle. Our paths crossed when we joined nnpc in 1991, we started out as friends, by the time we retired in 2020, you had become my brother in the true sense of the word. You are such a reliable, dependable and responsible family man and friend. If we had any project to undertake, all you ask is: how much should I contribute, as long as you Lawe Bongo is handling it, there is no problem, that’s shows the utmost confidence you had in me as friend. I confess that your death rattled me to the bone marrow, I had insomnia and could not sleep all nite. If only death knew the world would be a poorer place without a person like you, maybe he would have spared you . You were a good man, despite your imperfections as a human being, you will be sorely missed. We looked forward to growing together into ripe old age, so we can gist and reminiscence over so many things like we did when I visited and spent the whole day with you in Barrie.
Ma Sun lorun o. Keep watching over your family and your loved ones you left behind. Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Olakunle Shittu O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God find peace, light and eternal rest with our Christ .

My brother-in-law was a simple, humble, generous and responsible man. He was always supporting the family. Infact, I told him on the day he was apologizing profusely to me, simply because he forgot to send my monthly allowance, that he was not indebted to me, to which he replied that even at that he should not have forgotten. After that I told him that I coveted his humility.
We will meet again to part no more. Sunre o.
He came, he saw and he conquered. He will be dearly missed by all.
    Au revoir

It was with shock and disbelief that we received the sudden departure of our dear family friend, Mr Shittu, a gentleman to the core who rarely lost his cool, irrespective of the circumstances he found himself. He was such an amazing gentleman, full of humility. His special and unequaled care for my family whenever I travelled outside Nigeria can never be forgotten. Whenever he gave his signature response ” _no problema_” to any issue, it was as good as resolved. God Almighty knows best why he invited him to external glory at this very time. Rest well our dear loved friend.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this as I never thought I am going to have to do this now. Your demise came as a rude shock to me. However, I must say you were wonderful in so many ways; your brilliance, dedication and commitment were unrivaled. You were a thorough bred professional, a complete gentle man and a humble personality. Our path crossed in 1991 in Port-harcourt where we both work in Eleme Petrochemicals Company. We became so close and inseparable such that when the news of your death broke I was inundated with calls and text messages from friends and colleagues. While we mourn you today, we take solace in the fact that your mission on earth has been fulfilled. We thank God for your life as we bid you farewell.
Engr. Olakunle Liadi Shittu, rest on in the bosom of your creator

Brother Kunle, it was a great please for me to have come across a man of your amiable personality, which is uncommon.

The news of your departure is very sad, cruel and remains unbelievable. A kind-hearted and well-loved man that will never use his advantage position against others. You will never identify him when he is in the midst of his operatives. An Engineer per excellence. What a loss.
Baba Tosin as I fondly call him. We were in NNPC PPMC Warri Office together and he made my stay easy and was very supportive.
It’s hard to imagine that he is gone.
May the Lord comfort his wife and children and give them the grace to bear the loss.

I still find it extremely difficult to believe I am writing this Condolence Message. We spoke 5 days before your demise and chatted 3 days before you took ill of which you never recovered.
Where do I start from? You took me from Quranic school as a toddler even my hand had not touched tje traditional ear before admission into Primary School in 1970. You guided in life towards self dependent even when our mother was alive.
You never said NO whenever I make any request even at the twilight of your life.
You were my brother, daddy, mentor and guidance all rolled into one. We are already into the festive period and the family as a whole up to extended family have missed you. Generous, Free giver and an embodiment of principle.
A member of the extended family pronounced you as the transformer that has blown off. I corrected the elderly person that it has not blown off but burnt beyond recognition. Times without number when my son would just inform.me that Big Daddy sent me money.
    Now BIG DADDY IS GONE.
Like a candle in a fierce wind. We take solace in the Lord. We pray may the Good Lord Rest your Soul.
There was even no time to say goodbye as there was no protracted illness.
    Live on.
    Olakunle Liadi Shittu.

    Adieu Engr Olakunle Shittu😭😭😭😭

I don’t really know how to start this message. On Saturday 22nd November 2025, I received a text message from my elder sister in the US (Mrs Shittu Adeoye Olukemi Wuraola) asking if I was free and home or at work. Even though we usually speak regularly, I sensed that there was a problem in the tone of her text. I responded immediately and called her line. She picked the call and when she spoke, her voice was one of the most terrifying voices I have heard of late. I tried and calmed her down before she was able to mutter some words out: “please we need to start praying now for my husband. Daddy Tosin is now in the ICU in Canada”. I was shocked and scared because Engr Olakunle Shittu was an unusual man who I have never seen falling sick for once for over 30years I have known him.
Immediately, we started to Intercede for him. The entire vigil from that Saturday till when he finally died around 3.15am on Monday 26th November were all centred upon him. All the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Grace Assembly Isle Of Wight, United Kingdom joined to pray on Sunday throughout the service. I am a man who believes in God turning things around. But this news jolted me 😭😭😭😭. I was devastated. I felt so weak and shaky as if all my strength was gone. I still cannot sleep.😭😭😭😭
Daddy Tosin, I remembered how I came to start living under your roof in 1990 😭😭😭😭 just after I lost my father and there were ominous issues from my father’s quarters against my mother and her children. After I lost my father at that tender age and I was staying in our family house in Ajamopo street, Ilode Ile-Ife, there were loads of fears and palpitations around the family. One faithful day, there was a divine Orchestration that mandated my relocation from Ilode to your house at General Hospital Area in Ile-Ife. You were opened to me and became my physics Teacher immediately😭😭😭😭. You taught me how to master science subjects and you became my instant Teacher, Big brother and a Father figure that I desperately needed.I was so used to you that you practically changed my orientation in life. I lived by your words. You were the hero I looked up to in almost everything I do.😭😭😭😭
Really, at the beginning, when things were rough, your wife who is my elder sister (Mrs Shittu Adeoye Olukemi Wuraola) and my mother (of blessed memory) took up the challenge and stood in the gap for you. After some months, God’s mercy showed up. You got several offers of jobs and after due consultations with prayers, you decided to choose NNPC. You were among the first set of Nigerian Engineers sent abroad for further training by NNPC when Eleme Petrochemical started. You returned back and started working at Eleme Petrochemical in PortHarcourt.😭😭😭😭
You became a rally point to everyone. Daddy Tosin you helped many lives. You supported many homes. I cannot remember anyone who came to our house who would not leave smiling because you would show them your kindness. These very acts of your kindness represents another good traits I learnt from you
    😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Your personality greatly impacted my choice of course. It was your brilliance academically and technically that made me choose to study Chemical Engineering because of my passion for Chemistry and Mathematics among other science subjects.😭😭😭😭I was determined to be just like you and work in oil industry like you. Man proposes but God disposes.😭😭😭😭. Daddy Tosin, I cannot continue writing😭😭😭😭. My journey and experiences in life are not complete without your impacts. You were a man of few words and kept a very low profile. You only talk when you wanted to.
Whenever you were around in Ife then infact, every day, my first responsibility was not just to wash the car, but to buy your favourite three (3) newspapers (Tribune, Guardian and Punch).😭😭😭😭 You loved reading alot and that attribute of yours rubbed off on me as well. Once you returned from PortHarcourt then, you would retire to your room and only come out to eat and then back to your room again. Daddy Tosin, even when you were at home, no one would know.
Your death has left a big vacuum in the lives of everyone of us:😭😭😭😭 your wife (Mrs Shittu Wuraola), your children(Tosin and Bukunmi Shittu), my sisters, your brother(Uncle Taiwo Rafiu), your relatives, your friends such as Prof Wale Oladipo and all your former colleagues. 😭😭😭😭
You might have left us, but you remain in our hearts. Your deeds will keep speaking after you have gone. Adieu Engr Olakunle Shittu! Adieu Daddy Tosin!! Adieu my great Hero and Teacher.😭😭😭😭Continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord till the Resurrection morning.😭😭😭😭
May the Almighty God grant your wife, Shittu Adeoye Olukemi Wuraola, your children (Tosin and Bukunmi) and everyone of us the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss in Jesus Christ Name Amen.

    Bukola and Grace

Today, I honour the life of a man who may not have been my father by blood, but who touched my life in ways that will never be forgotten. My stepdad was a calm, steady presence — someone whose strength didn’t always need loud words, but whose actions spoke deeply. He showed kindness, patience, and a sense of responsibility that shaped our home and the people we have become.

Even though life placed distance and borders between us at times, I always carried respect for him in my heart. He treated my siblings with love and guided them with wisdom, and for that I will always be grateful. His impact continues to shine through in the values he instilled, the lessons he taught, and the memories we now hold so tightly.

Losing him reminds us how fragile life is, but it also reminds us to cherish the moments and honour the people who gave us their best while they were here. I pray his soul finds peaceful rest, and I pray for comfort for everyone he left behind, especially my siblings who felt his presence every day.

May his legacy live on in kindness, unity, and strength.
    Rest in perfect peace Dad

To a Legend who always makes everyone feel important, who makes me know and see that the world is not as hard as I take it. Who made me realize that perfection belongs to God alone.
His silence was loud, his speech was filled with wisdom. May Almighty God be with everyone of us and protect the ones and things you left behind.
    Amen!
