Stephen Philip Spurling

After a long and hard fought illness, in the early morning of August 19, 2023, Stephen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  He leaves behind his dear wife of 48 years, Lesley (nee Pilling) his three children Shane (Leah Ann), Ryan (Melissa) and Meagan and his beloved Grandchildren Dakota, Torrin, London, Hudson and Kensington.  Stephen is predeceased by his parents Philip Roy Spurling, Doreen Alice Spurling (nee Carrick) and his “Little Buddy” Loxley

Born in Toronto in 1954 and raised in North York.  Stephen moved to Barrie with his parents and five younger siblings in 1971.  He met his wife Lesley in October 1974 and they were wed July 1975.  Stephen dedicated his life to serving his God Jehovah and remained faithful to the end.

Stephen was funny, smart, loyal, empathetic and dedicated to teaching people about the Bible’s positive message of hope for the future.  The loss of such a unique and fun personality has left his friends and family heartbroken but they know they will see him again in paradise, healthy and happy.  He will be missed beyond measure.

Memorial to be held on Saturday September 2, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (115 Ferris Ln, Barrie, ON)

Steve will be missed by all his family and friends. I picture him now with Loxley singing by his side. I enjoyed my visits and breakfasts with Steve. He liked a good laugh. I shall miss him and my thoughts go out to Lesley and family x

To Leslie and the family. May the love of your friends and family comfort you during this difficult time. Psalms 31:7 let us know how the David the Psalmist felt when he said..I will rejoice greatly in your loyal love. For you have seen my affliction. You are aware of my deep distress….only Jehovah knows how we truly feel. Words cannot reveal our hearts at a time like this but as usual Jehovah makes way out and helps us to a bear all things giving us hope. Ww love all of you and give you our full support, xoxo
