Viola Mary Wilson passed away peacefully at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on December 28, 2025, in her 84th year.
Viola was a loving and devoted mother to Grant (Tomoko), Scott (Danielle), and Cheryl (Warren). She was a proud grandmother to Nicholas (Kelly) and Robert (Cindy), and a cherished “grandfur” grandmother to Sora and Plum, who brought her much joy.
She will be fondly remembered by her siblings, Betty (Fred) and Len (Meeri), nieces and nephews, Chris (Joslyn), Jeff (Kim), Liisa (Peter), Saara (Alan), grand nieces and nephews, Drayden, Rylan, Ty, Michael (Ale), Madison (Zane), Jacob, Zachary, Liam, Reija as well as by her dear and lifelong best friends, Marlene Fitzsimmons and Chris Nowak.
Viola was an avid reader and a skilled bridge player, and she greatly enjoyed curling. She had a deep love for the outdoors and found special delight in watching birds. A true social butterfly, Viola had the remarkable ability to make friends anywhere and at any time. Known for her adventurous spirit, she loved being the very first to swim once the ice broke each spring.
Above all else, Viola was truly passionate about her family and took immense pride in each of them. She was also honoured to serve as President of the IOOF Residents, a role she embraced with dedication and enthusiasm.
Viola’s warmth, energy, and love of life will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Posted on: Sunday, January 4, 2026Vi was one of the first people I got to know when we moved into Sandycove Acres. We had great conversations and a few great ‘tours’ around the area. She was a wonderful woman who was a great friend – and who I missed greatly when I moved away from SCA. Her children and grandchildren must be very proud of the great lady she was. My husband and I will miss her (and her great sense of humour).

Posted on: Tuesday, January 6, 2026Dear Scott,
My condolences to you and your family. We will all miss your mom at Heritage Place. I had numerous conversations with your mom over the years. She had spoke fondly of her trips out west on the train and looked forward to and enjoyed being at the Cottage with family. She lived life to the fullest, despite her health challenges. A true inspiration. Her commitment to the Housing Residents Association was remarkable, she always wanted to ensure that all of the Residents were given an opportunity to be heard and share their ideas.
Warm Regards,
Mary Holm

She brought light to everyone around her, had amazing stories, and had the twinkle of a 20 year old in her eye.
Sending love to the entire Wilson family ❤️ she will be missed ❤️
