It is with heavy hearts that the family of William “Bill” Mountain announces his passing on June 12, surrounded by his loved ones at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Iwona Pierog Mountain; his son, Steven and his beloved granddaughter, Harper, and Harper's stepbrother Aiden and their mother Trish Goodfellow. Bill was raised with great care by his foster mother, Frederica Howl whose guidance and love were a steady presence throughout his life. He also shared a close bond with his foster sister, Helen Schaller whose love and admiration brought him deep joy and connection.
A dedicated civil servant, Bill spent the majority of his career with the Ontario Ministry of Labour with the Chest Clinic as a senior pulmonary medical lab technician, retiring in 1995 after decades of meaningful and impactful work.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Southlake Palliative Care team for their compassion and attentive support during Bill’s final days.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held in September to honour his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. Details will be posted on Iwona Pierog's Facebook page. Condolence messages can be left for the family at www.peacefultransition.com
