HOLDEN, William (Bill) Carter July 26, 1932 - February 23, 2018 Bill peacefully drew his last breath here on Earth to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family at Mill Creek Care Center. Bill leaves behind his friend of 52 years and loving wife of 38 years Glenda Holden. His children and fishing buddies Ken (Anita), Randy (Ann), Wayne (Lori), Adam (Callaegh), Janice Holden and Jennifer Moffit. Bill loved and held in his arms 18 grand-children and 14 great-grandchildren. They all love and will miss their poppy. Bill has one sister Myrnetta Reed (Siss) in Nova Scotia and Bill is now rejoicing in Heaven with his Brothers Donald, Melvin, and Keith. Also left behind are many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill worked in many fields of ministries. He was a Salvation Army officer, A religious educator, counselled at a boys training school been on several advisory boards. He got many volunteers in the 1980's and they turned the old tent and awning into the first men's shelter in down town Barrie Studied Diesel engineering and driving a Tour buss all over Canada and U.S. After Bill's retirement, his work on Earth was not done. He was a Volunteer at Mill Creek Care Center and started a men's club. He also joined the wood working shop at Sandy Cove and became the Secretary on the board of directors until he became ill. Bill loved to ride around Sandy Cove in his golf cart and if anyone was sitting he would stop and talk to them or give them a wave and a smile. The camp fires will never be the same without him.
Our Family would love to Thank St. Elizabeth P.S.W.'s and nurses that came to the house. Mill Creek for making Bill as comfortable as could be. Also a Special Thanks to Dr. Mossman and Wendy for the Love, care and concern for Bill and his wife during this very difficult time.
Bill's Service will be held at The Salvation Army Citadel 151 Lillian Cres., Barrie, Saturday, March 2, 2018. Visitation at 1 p.m. until Service at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the Church on Saturday to The Salvation Army Barrie Corps or to Millcreek Care Center Palliative care cart would be greatly appreciated from the family.
