Helen Lorene Beintema (nee Metcalfe)

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that her children announce the peaceful passing of Helen Lorene Beintema, 79, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, on August 5, 2026, in the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Born on December 20, 1946, in Newmarket, Ontario. Helen's life was a testament to love, an abundance of laughter, and dedication.

Helen is survived by her three devoted and loving children, Kevin (Angela), Jason (Julie) and Kim (Brad).  She will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, Darrin, Courtney, Avery and Morgan, brother Robert Meltcalfe (Pat) and sister Dorothy Mullens (Wally). She also shared a special bond with her niece, Mary Ann Kotylak.

She is predeceased by her parents, George and Muriel Metcalfe, and best friend and sister Margerite Fairbarn.

She will be deeply missed by her York Regional Police family where she proudly worked as a civilian for over 23 years and made many lifelong friends.

Helen left an imprint on anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.  She loved a good party and lit up every room she entered and was never one to turn down a game of cards or board game, and she loved to travel with her friends.  Anyone who knows her knows she loved to laugh and have fun.

Her memory will live on through her family and many friends, whose lives have been enriched by her laughter, smile, humour and unwavering love.

Rest in peace Mom…until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen’s name to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation  would be greatly appreciated.
