Campbell,Richard Douglas July 1st,1971-October 16th,2018
After a courageous 4 year battle with ALS, Richard or “Rich", passed away peacefully at home in Barrie, under the care of his treasured friend Nick and surrounded by his beloved New York Giants memorabilia he had received from his children and family over the years. Rich was a proud father of 2 children,,and leaves behind Andrew 15, and Alexa 12, who reside with their mother Michelle. Andrew and Alexa were the lights of Rich's life and he was so proud of their accomplishments, Alexa with her Athletics and Andrew his mastery of Technology. Rich was even able to attend one of Alexa's ball games and spend the day smiling! Michelle will miss Rich’s presence and support in her life and will honour him by ensuring their children know each day how much he loved them. Rich was predeceased by his father Charles Malcolm, and survived by his mother Karen Thompson(Fraser), both parents so pleased to bring him home with them at 6 months and become a family,. Predeceased by father-in law Laurie Gregory, and survived by mother-in law Karen Gregory, who enjoyed having him as a son -in law and father to their grandchildren. Rich is also survived by a Brother-in-law, Nephews, special Aunts, Uncles and many cousins that he loved spending his youthful summers with in Muskoka. Time spent with Lindsay Ramsbottom though the last few years, helped give him a strength to try to keep his fight going. A special, long friendship that Rich had over so many years with Darryl Hallahan ,kept him in laugher and smiling though the last few difficult months. Many friends and former co-workers will remember Rich as a thoughtful, hardworking and "give the shirt off his back "kind of guy, who’s smile. quirky sense of humour, and long curly red hair ,will be greatly missed. We would like to give a special thanks to Rich's Doctor, Dr.Paige Stecuik, for the wonderful, kind care he had received.
Celebration of Life will be held for Richard by his family, on Saturday November 17th, 2018 at Tiffs on Anne Street in Barrie, from 1-3 pm. Please come and remember Rich with stories, smiles and love. In honour of Rich's love for the NFL and the NY Giants, if you would like, please wear a football jersey from your favorite team.
In lieu of flowers, his children would like to request that donations in Richard's name, be made to the ALS Society.
