Sheila Lucas (nee O’Reilly)

September 30, 1939 - February 23, 2021

Funeral Details:

Sheila Lucas (nee O’Reilly)

It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Sheila, our loving mother, devoted wife and friend to all whose lives she touched on February 23, 2021. Sheila was born on September 30, 1939 in Montreal, Quebec.

She left us at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto after a battle with stage 4 lung cancer that she fought with grace and determination. She was 82 years young.

Beloved mother to Bradley (wife Maureen), Darryll (wife Caroline Hester), Christina (husband Anthony Granieri) and proud Nanny to her grandchildren Lucas, Avery and Charlie.

Mom did not wish to have a funeral or a big send off and Covid19 has complicated things further.  Please remember her in your own way, raise a glass, have a dinner party, tell stories and remember her for her laugh, her love of good wine, good food and some of the most amazing friends and family she could ever have wished for.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Sheila Lucas may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Cancer Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

We love you, Mom, a bushel and a peck…..

We met Sheila (and her travel friend Gay) last year, on a trip from Dubai to Capetown. We were the couple that happened to be sitting next to them on the flight from Toronto to Dubai, and in passing conversation we realized we were all on the same trip package. There and then, a new friendship was created for the adventure awaiting us. One of the highlights of this trip was when we all went up the tallest building in the world, in Dubai. We did this in style, remembering Sheila saying, lets take the VIP package, we’ll go to the top and have the drinks and appetizers.

We are surprised and saddened to hear of her passing, less than a year later. Remembering the fun times we had.
