Andrew Charles Love

January 3, 1971 - May 22, 2022

Funeral Details: Friday, May 27, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Erin Mills United Church

Andrew Charles Love lived a full and adventurous life in his 51 years.  Andrew died on May 22nd, 2022 after courageously living with liver cancer since January 2020.  A genuine and kind person, loving son, amazing brother, fantastic uncle, loyal friend, and an awesome friend to all dogs.  Andrew was a kind, caring person who was always willing to believe in the underdog and to offer his perspective and defend it with vigor and passion on a range of topics and of course always cheer on those Maple Leafs.

Andrew’s gentle and kind spirit will be missed but always present in the hearts of his family and friends. Andrew, born January 3rd, 1971 in Deep River, Ontario, was the son of Ian and Carol Love and in later years their respective partners Kyung-sook (Sue) and Rick.  Andrew was a brother and brother-in-law to John and Katharine, Graham and Eunna, Greig and Erin and to Alec.  He was an uncle to Isobel, William, Duncan, Joshua, Noah, Hugh, Callum, Maggie and Brendan.  He was a loyal friend to countless others who appreciated his generosity, his sense of humour and kindness.

Andrew had a successful professional career in the IT industry and with his younger brother Greig, launched and built a successful company, LTS which continues to this day.  He made many friends with his colleagues and clients who appreciated his warm heartedness and dedication.

Over the course of his illness, Andrew benefited from the care of countless health care professionals, family members and friends.  Thank you to those at Sunnybrook Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital, all who went above and beyond to care for Andrew.  To the nurses and personal support workers at St. Elizabeth - your care, kindness and support meant the world to Andrew.  The Simcoe Hospice in Barrie and their staff were incredibly kind and compassionate to Andrew during his weekly sessions, the classes and when he passed.  To Jennifer - for being a loving and caring friend who supported him in his search for answers to his cancer and life in general.  To cousin Alistair - thank you for the incredible gift of time and love you showed Andrew.  His weekly chess matches, horticulture and cooking lessons were highlights of his weeks.  To Greig, Erin, Isobel, William and Duncan - for opening their home to Andrew when first diagnosed and supporting him in many ways before and after his illness.  To Dad and Kyung-sook - you demonstrated compassion, love and support to Andrew during some very difficult days over that time.  To Mom and Rick - words cannot adequately express our admiration, gratitude and respect for the care and love over the past years.  They welcomed Andrew into their home with love and support which allowed him to grow as a person despite his illness and to be loved and cared for in an environment where he mattered. T o the many other family and friends, there where so many, whose collective efforts supported Andrew in his determined efforts to overcome his illness - a huge thank you and forever grateful.

Andrew’s life had many highlights including his love of travel, a proud dog owner, an avid sports fan and a passion for understanding the why to many of life’s challenges which he also faced over the years.  Through the highlights and challenges, he maintained a desire to be independent and had a positive outlook. Andrew will be missed by many.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 3 pm at the Erin Mills United Church located at 3010 The Collegeway, Mississauga.  A reception will be held afterwards at the Glenerin Inn and Spa at 1695 The Collegeway, Mississauga from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Donations in Andrew’s memory can be made to Hospice Simcoe who were a great source of support and care to Andrew and Carol. So sorry to hear Andrew passed away. I have some very fond memories of Andrew over the years, from spending a few summers with my 4 cousins, Andrew being one of them. Latterly I got to spend a bit of time with him whilst we were both in Scotland at the same time. He was a very kind, gentle soul and that smile of his was just beautiful.

Love and thoughts to you all at this very difficult time.

May you rest in peace Andrew.

I’ve known Andrew for a long time. We went to Carleton University together and had a blast hanging out there but we really got to know each other when he invited me to Korea “to come and check it out” and live together with him and Ian, his very understanding and amazing father. Those were good times, actually some of the best!
Andrew and I were living in a new and exciting country and loving every minute of it. We got to know each other very well and became almost inseparable in this New and Untamed World in which I still reside. He would always say “Rock, it’s lucky we have each other, eh”? But I always felt like I was the more fortunate one, to have Lank by my side.
His gentle soul and soothing manner gave many over here comfort and reassurance in a place far from home. Andrew just had this way about him of making you feel better about everything, even if things weren’t going so great.
He loved to talk and engage in deep conversation. He loved to argue and make his point known amongst his closest friends and strangers as well. Many of whom were unsuspecting but always appreciative of his passion, his knowledge and desire to settle conflicts over a pint and always a few laughs in the end.
When it comes to laughs for me, Andrew’s is one of the most enjoyable and memorable of all that I have had the pleasure to embrace. I can just picture his Lanky frame, hunched over with his eyes closed and this beautiful “Scottish Cackle” warming the room.
Oh…..that laugh of his! It was unmistakably unique and infectiously loveable; just like Andrew!

I am truly sorry that I didn’t get to see you before you left, but I will forever remember our times together fondly and treasure that little piece of my heart that has your names on it. Lank/Scotch/Andrew.

    See You Again My Friend

    ROCK

After many years as a colleague we became good friends. In January 2020 he gave me the terrible news. It was a tough 2 and half years always with a sunny disposition and an admirable willingness to fight. No words can express how much I miss and how much I will miss my friend going forward.
    Rest in peace my friend!

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Love family. I know its been a very difficult 2+ years for you since Andrew was diagnosed with this horrible disease. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you struggle with this tremendous loss. Andrew was one of my closest buds growing up through senior public and high school and onto Carleton University. In first year we shared a small 2 bedroom basement apartment in Ottawa’s Chinatown. Its a wonder we didn’t kill each other given our many spirited (and sometimes heated) political debates. Andrew was a man of conviction, intelligent and very proud of his Scottish heritage. My friendship with him led to many other wonderful friendships which I still maintain to this day. For that I am forever grateful. Rest in eternal peace my friend Andrew/Lank/Scotch. 🙏🏻
