After 98 years and 4 months of contentment, happiness and fulfilment, Beth Humfryes (née Wood) earthly journey has ended on December 28, 2025.   Her husband Bob (Sidney Robert) passed in 2017 after 55 wonderful years of marriage.

Beth leaves her only son Bradley along with her cherished daughter-in-law Sandra and Grandchildren Jennifer (with great-grandchildren Enrico & Grayson) and Steven.

Born on August 30, 1927, Beth was the beloved daughter of Laura Wood (née Fry) and Reginald Wood, and a devoted sister to her younger brother, Alan Wood, who predeceased her. She was raised on the family dairy farm in the south end of Aurora from birth to 15 years old.  Her upbringing is where she gained her love of animals and Farm lifestyle.

At the age of 15, Beth moved with her family into town on Wells Street, where she embraced small-town living. Living near the Aurora Town Park ball diamond sparked a lifelong love of baseball. This passion eventually grew into devoted support of the Toronto Blue Jays, faithfully watching games on television and enthusiastically cheering for her favourite team. Beth also loved skating and especially enjoyed Saturday night recreational skating to live music at the Aurora Arena. This led to her being a passionate Toronto Maple Leafs fan, cheering them on regardless of their standing in the league.

After graduating from Aurora High School, Beth attended Shaw Business College in North Toronto. When Oak-Hart Manufacturing opened a new factory in Aurora, the Plant Manager was seeking a Lead Secretary to assist with the plant start-up. Upon recommendation from her high school principal, Beth was offered the position. She worked there from 1949 to 1964, and it was during this time that a handsome and wonderful tool-and-die man became smitten by her.

In 1963, Beth married the love of her life, Bob.  At this time they moved to 60 Dunning Ave., and remained there for 60 years. Together, they shared a wonderful life built on love, devotion, and partnership. They were blessed with their cherished son, Brad, who was the centre of their world.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Beth and Bob enjoyed a close circle of friends, sharing many fun gatherings, special New Year’s Eve celebrations, and monthly euchre games. In the 1990s, they took up country music dance lessons and enjoyed socializing through the “Spinning Spurs” dance club.

Family traditions were deeply important to Beth. She especially treasured the annual Thanksgiving trips to Batchawana Bay, as well as spring and fall visits to relatives in Grand Rapids, Michigan—times filled with laughter, connection, and lasting memories. Beth was able to do this until she was 92 years old and would have continued however, visit were ended by Covid restrictions.

Beth was a dedicated and active member of Aurora United Church, where her church family meant the world to her. She was a proud member of the United Church Women (UCW) and served faithfully as Treasurer for nearly 30 years. She especially loved the annual rummage sale and the many special events that brought the congregation together.

The Humfryes' family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Age Care Aurora (thanks to Mill 2 staff especially Archie and Loreen), the members of Aurora United Church (Seekers and UCW), and the ministers who visited Beth regularly for their kindness, care, and support.

Beth loved Flowers, however, if you prefer to make a donation in her memory, please go to auroraunitedchurch.ca

Beth will be remembered for her deep love of family, her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, and the quiet joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
