Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara "Barbie" Anne Martin on March 19, 2024, at her residence, at the age of 78 years.  Barbie will be dearly remembered by her brother, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Barbie was known for her infectious laughter and her generous, caring nature.  She touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.  Barbie enjoyed travelling and went to many places around the world with her partner, Peter of 30 years.  She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the company of her friends over breakfast outings.

In accordance with Barbie's wishes, there will not be a formal service at this time.  However, we invite those who knew and loved her to share their memories and condolences online at www.peacefultransition.ca.

Though Barbie may no longer be with us, her spirit will live on in the cherished memories she leaves behind.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barbie was my next-door neighbour for over 22 years. She was there to help me whenever I needed her, when she could. Once she accompanied me to a test at the hospital and stayed with me in the room while it was being done. Another time, I ran short of cash after buying gas for my jeep, and she immediately gave me the money to pay the gas station. We have a small group of old friends that get together regularly for birthdays, and she was always part of the group, even attending my birthday last July 26. She loved cats and I have one as well. We both worked in the medical fields so we had lots of memories to share. She loved to go for drives and meeting friends for breakfast dates. She lived in TO for most of her life, and only after retirement found her way back to us, so we had her for a very short time. She had a good heart, and liked to stay on top of what was happening in the neighborhood. She loved to visit with friends on the street to keep in touch with what was happening. Barbie may you now rest in peace. You have had a wonderful life, of travel, and meeting people from all over the world, only in the end you came back to us, and little did we realize it was for such a short time. As long as I live in this house, I will look out my window at Barbies house and remember her, she will be forever in my heart. Thank you Barbie for good times and good memories.

I have many fond memories of times spent with you and was never able to thank you enough for your concern and care when Uncle Charlie and I were both sick. God Bless.

So sorry Barb, not to be able to have long chats on the telephone with you. I just read your obituary and felt very sad, as you were so happy the last time we talked, and feeling well. Dirk and I knew you and Peter for many happy years, travelling together and enjoying life. May you Rest In Peace. Love, Mary
