Funeral Details: Invitation Only at Our Lady of Grace Church

Beatriz Jornacion Garcia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday March 19, 2021 at Providence Healthcare in Toronto after a long battle with dementia.  She leaves behind her devoted husband of 47 years Felino Garcia of Aurora.  Loving mother of Jonathan (Nghi) Garcia of Aurora and Aimee (David) Wheatley of Burlington, Kentucky.  She will be sadly missed by her four beloved grandchildren Aristeia, Mia, Theodore and Sasha.  Dear sister of Amante (Cristina) Jornacion of Aurora and Santos Jr. (Rosa) Jornacion of the Philippines and Adoracion Jornacion of Toronto.  Beatriz will be fondly remembered by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her parents Marcellina and Santos Jornacion Sr. of the Philippines and her four siblings Rosita, Romulo, Rosario and Arthur.

Beatriz was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines on May 11, 1935.  She was one of the thousands of nurses from the Philippines who migrated to the United States in the 1960’s to fulfill the nursing shortage in the country.  She then courageously set off alone to Canada, where she met the love of her life, Felino Garcia whom she wed in October 1973.  Beatriz worked as an RN for many years at the K-Wing Veterans Facility at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Ontario.  She cared for aging veterans who fought for our country during both World Wars.

Beatriz and Felino choose Aurora as home to raise their children.  She was a long-term member of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Aurora for 40 plus years.  She had the honour of watching the generations attend mass as the town of Aurora grew.

An invitation only Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Aurora.  Burial to follow at Aurora Cemetery.  Friends may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Grace Church.  Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful Transition York (2-15236 Yonge Street, Aurora) and condolences may be forwarded to the family through peacefultransition.ca

Aimee, Dave and family, We are so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you all. It is so hard to give up a parent. We are so blessed when that parent has been loving and kind, and a Godly example to her children. I am thankful the Lord designed our bodies with the ability to remember. May you all be blessed w precious memories and moments of time together. Praying for you all for comfort and guidance.
