Betty (Mary Elizabeth) Hart

November 2, 1939 - January 1, 2021

Funeral Details: To Be Held at a Later Date

Betty (Mary Elizabeth) passed peacefully on January 1st at RVH in Barrie after a short period in hospital.

Betty was a kind, compassionate, fun loving and enthusiastic lady. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a good friend to many.  She was always caring for family and friends. Betty would go out of her way to ensure others needs were met, a truly giving soul. Her laugh was contagious, her smile filled a room, and her loving spirit touched those around her.

Betty was born in Thessalon and met her husband Bill, when she moved in across the street from him in Weston. They fell in love and married soon after, she was just eighteen, he was twenty-one. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage together.  Betty had three brothers – Glenn (Margaret), Robert (Fay) and Don (Val).   Betty and Bill had three children, Linda (Mike), Scott (Karen) and Warren. She had 3 grandchildren, Jason, Benn and Taylor, and two great grandchildren Camryn and Ellie. Her nephews included Bruce, Ron, Ian, Jim, Ricky, and nieces Allison, Bev and other loved family members.

She treasured her friendships and loved getting together with family and friends, as well as attending events - Allendale Senior Centre, Irish Club, Red Hats, Probus to name some. She enjoyed playing darts, carpet bowling and any activity that was socially oriented.  A coffee and long chat with family or friends were her favourite past time.

Betty’s health became an issue just four weeks ago, and we are shocked that she is no longer with us. We believe her journey has taken her to be with her son Warren, mother, brothers, family and friends who have left before her.

Betty will be tremendously missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She has left many wonderful memories, smiles, laughs and stories to fondly share.

We would love for you to share your memories of Betty on

A celebration of life will take place at a later time.

I am still shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of this wonderful lady. The Hart family and the Little family were neighbours for many years on Farley Crescent. Many good times were shared. Betty introduced me to parsnips, and I have always remembered that. Many summer afternoons were spent in their basement with Linda and I sharing game after game of Monopoly to keep cool. Everyone was always welcome in their home! Sending lots of love, hugs and prayers to Bill, Linda, Scott, Karen and Jay. May you all find peace with this new reality. I am sure there have been some loud parties in heaven since Betty arrived!!!

Aunt Betty spread sparkle, joy, humour, kindness, constant fun and laughter to every one lucky enough to have known and been loved by her… although we did not get to see her as much as we would have liked We can feel our loss deeply. We take consolation that right now she has my Dad Big Jimmer, Oochie, Warren, Faye, Grandpa and sadly to many more to mention. Laughing their butts off and getting into trouble

I have been very lucky to have Betty and Bill as dear friends. We met at the 55+ center. Betty’s laugh, kindness and wonderful spirit will be sorely missed by many. I miss her emails every morning. At darts our teams waited till Betty got there before we would start to play. She always lifted our spirits. Bill my heart is with you and your family.

My heart is saddened with the loss of my dear friend, Betty. It still seems unbelievable that she is no longer with us.
We were in the same classes in Hughes Public School in Toronto and I have such good memories from those years. Over the years we lost contact.
In the early 80’s I decided to search for school friends with the plan to bring us together for Reunions. I’m so glad I was successful in doing that and it was wonderful to reconnect with Betty and to get to know her dear husband, Bill. They attended most of the 15 reunions I planned and we stayed in touch throughout the years on line, telephone and lunch/coffee times.
My heart goes out to Bill and all the family as they are now walking a grief journey. May God comfort each one in their loss and may wonderful memories add joy to their days when they are missing her.
I’m so thankful for our friendship. Betty will be missed but not forgotten.

I will always remember my Aunt Betty for her kind and generous spirit. I will always remember her voice because she spoke to me with interest and authenticity since my childhood. She was always interested in what I was doing and then later the members of my family. Aunt Betty was one of the kindest natured people I have ever known. Annie and I are saddened by her sudden passing and will miss her dearly.

Our heart felt condolences to Uncle Bill, Linda, Scott, the grandsons and great-grand kids.

    Doug and Annie
