It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Stewart, a loving husband of 53 years to Lynda.  Father to Brian, Steve (Amy), Doug (Erica), and Matt (Natalie).  Ada/Grandpa to Emily, Caden, Alex, Liam, Tyler, Cadler, Andrew, and Brodie. Brother to Bill (Connie).

Brian was a family man through and through, finding joy and fulfillment in the love he shared with his family.  His eyes would light up with immense pride and warmth at the mention of his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Ada”.  Being an “Ada” was his greatest source of happiness, and he embraced the role with open arms.

Brian had a unique ability to fill up any room with laughter and joy with his silly nature.  One of Brian's simple pleasures was sweets; the grand kids enjoyed a fridge stocked with mini Pepsi, full size chocolate bars and ice cream cones.  His love for sweets was a testament to his childlike joy and delight in life's simple pleasures.

Before his retirement, Brian was employed by the City of Barrie.  For over 30 years, he worked his way up the corporate ladder.  He was an active member of the union and could be found fighting for the little man.  Brian approached life with a unique perspective, firmly believing that many household repairs could be fixed with a trusty butter knife.  His resourcefulness and silly approach are something always to be fondly remembered by his family.

A Memorial Service to honour and remember Brian Stewart will be held on Friday, February 16th, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Army Navy and Air force Club,  52 Morrow Road, Barrie, Ontario.  All friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of a remarkable man who touched our lives in so many special ways.

May he rest in peace and remain forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brian’s memory to your local SPCA.
