Bruce Robert Pinkney

August 19, 1934 - July 10, 2025

Funeral Details:

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 10, 2025, at the age of 90 years.

Son of the late Lealand and Mary Pinkney (née Stranahan).  Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Pinkney (née Martin).  Much loved father of Stan (Karen), Randy (Reta), and Sue (Darryl). Proud grandfather of Chad (Alix), Tarah, Matthew, and Tyler, and great-grandfather of Danny and Jake.  Dear brother of Joan and Marlene, and predeceased by brothers Lealand and Duncan.  He will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and extended family as well as the many friends he made throughout his life.

Bruce was born in Toronto and grew up in Orillia.  He later lived in St. Paul’s with his mother and stepfather before marrying Evelyn and settling in Stroud, where he spent many happy years.

He was a dedicated employee of G.E. in Barrie for 35 years and later continued working at Home Hardware in both Allandale and Alcona Beach.  A proud member of his community, Bruce was instrumental in the creation of the Stroud Curling Club, served as President of the Innisfil Optimist Club in Stroud, and was active in the Stroud Snowmobile Club.  An avid sportsman, he played fastball, softball, and hardball, and also enjoyed curling and bowling throughout his life.

Above all, Bruce was a devoted family man who loved connecting with others and sharing in life’s joys.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the team at Coleman Care Centre for their compassionate care and support, and a special thank you to Dr. Bruce McTurk for his ongoing kindness.

Bruce was a customer at my work. He would always come in while visiting the eye Dr and get his lotto tickets. He always had a big smile on his face, and full of stories. He was a wonderful man who will be missed. My condolence to the family and friends.

Dear Stan, Randy, Susan and families. My sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad.
I have such fond memories of him and your Mom, when Jenn, David and I lived beside them on the 25th side road. He was such a kind, caring and gentle person! My thoughts are with you!

    Dear Sue, Darryl, and family.
Our sincere condolences to you and your family. We know how good you were to Bruce when he first took ill and eventually came back to Barrie and then to Coleman. There were many visits to see your father. He was a lucky dad to have such a loving daughter and attentive son-in-law. Your Sunday dinners together outside of Coleman will be nice memories. I know that Bruce was endeared by staff and residents at Coleman, I am not surprised, we found Bruce to always be a kind and welcoming man. Bruce can now rest in peace and you as a family can be content in knowing you were there for your father. Love Katherine and Bernie xo
