Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carole MacAskill on January 5, 2025, at the age of 86, after a brief illness. Carole was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Irene Wiltshire and the beloved wife of Irving MacAskill for 58 wonderful years. She was a dear sister to Eleanor Ruck and the late Edward Wiltshire.

Carole was born on April 24, 1938 and was lovingly raised by her mother Irene and her step father Joe Dorezk. Carole grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario - attended K.L.C.V.I, and went on to attend St. Mike’s in Toronto to further her nursing ambitions. Carole’s nursing career took her back to Kirkland Lake and then to California, North Bay and Midland until her retirement in 1996.

Carole dedicated over 20 years of her life as a Registered Nurse at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland. Known for her organizational skills and kind-hearted nature, Carole was a pillar of support to her colleagues and friends. She kept her husband Irving on his toes with her lively spirit and zest for life.

Her passions included knitting afghans, which she lovingly gifted to others, and traveling, with winters spent in her favorite destination, Florida. Carole had a remarkable talent for bringing people together, organizing family and social gatherings, New Year’s Day events, and summer picnics at the Barrie waterfront. She also enjoyed hosting luncheons at the Mandarin restaurant with her cherished friends.

Carole's warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by her friends in both Canada and Florida.

In accordance with her wishes, a private cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, ON.

The family extends its gratitude to the staff at Hospice Simcoe, as well as to Dr. Cindy Cohen and the nursing staff at the North Simcoe M.L.H.I. Network for their compassion and attentiveness during Carole’s illness.
