Funeral Details: Celebration of Life has been postponed due to Covid 19 regulations

Clare, Carolyn Suzanne:
It is with extreme sadness we announce the sudden passing of Carolyn. Carolyn died peacefully in her sleep on June 6, 2020 at the age of 41. Beloved Daughter of Gordon and Late Mary-Ellen Clare (February 2020). Loving Sister of Christopher (Lee-Anne) Clare. Wonderful Aunt of Ashton and Emmy-Rayne; the special niece and cousin within both Blance and Clare Families, and friend to many. Carolyn, affectionately known as ‘Care-Bear’, was a huge Raptors basketball fan, enjoyed cheering at games and taunting many a referee. She volunteered in several roles including; Raptors 50/50 ticket seller, tutoring special-needs individuals on navigating the TTC, and was recently working with Centre for Addiction and Mental Health to improve special-needs relationships and procedures.
Carolyn was an active member of the Voices of Joy choir, enjoyed penny slots, a fine connoisseur of desserts, and was always laughing out loud. She enjoyed camping at Shadow Lake Centre and traveling for vacation and family visits.
A Celebration of Life for both Carolyn Clare and her beloved mother Mary-Ellen Clare will be postponed until further notice.
Memorial donations to the amazing Reena Foundation or Shadow Lake Centre (Stouffville) would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful Transition York and condolences may be forwarded to the family through peacefultransition.ca

I want to send my Condolences for Carolyn Clare & her mother. They were both lovely ladies. I knew Carolyn for a very long time & she was one of my good friends & she was very nice to me & so was her mother. Her mother looked after my mother when she volunteered @ the Newmarket Health Centre & reported back to her daughter & Carolyn told me how my mother was doing cause my mother has Dementia & I do not see my mother that often. So now I will miss Carolyn & her mother’s report about my mother plus I will also miss Carolyn asking me how I am doing on Facebook during this Corvid-19 virus situation. Plus I will miss seeing her in person as well cause she is a very nice person to talk to in person as well. Plus she very pretty as well. I will miss Carolyn & her mother very much.

I’m gonna miss you. I can recall the good times at school (wouldn’t call it a school, to be honest) and around similar workplaces during co-ops. Good times were had.

I’ve known Carolyn for a long time through her involvement with Community Living Toronto social recreational activities. She volunteered with the North York Social Recreation committee helping out at dances. Carolyn also was involved with the York U Chapter of Best Buddies for a few years and come to events at our North York CL Toronto day program. She enrolled in our cooking classes and really enjoyed all the social interactions at these events and programs. Most recently she attended our Pizza Bingo nights at the Victoria Park Hub. I always enjoyed talking to Carolyn. She was very well known in the developmental services sector and I know many people are going to miss her. It is sad to know that we won’t be seeing her anymore at our various events.

Our team member, fellow advocate and personal friend, Carolyn was a very strong person and had a tremendous energy. She always kept going. She was always so positive and wanted to bring out the best in everyone. She would light up the room and make us all feel positive. She had so much oomph. She wanted to contribute and get involved in so many causes. She always wanted to see people with special needs win. There was not one cause or research project that she was not excited to be a part of. Such an outspoken and amazing advocate!

Getting to know her during the research course, she could talk about anything and had become a close friend to us all. She treated everybody the same. Carolyn had a very giving and caring nature and was concerned about those around her. Always had a smile on her face. She will continue to be an inspiration for us all and will definitely be missed.

I knew Carolyn many years ago, but unfortunately we lost contact over the years. I just heard the news of her passing. She lived with me for a short time in Scarborough back in the 90s. She was a great person and knew how to make people smile.

May God Bless her friends and family during this difficult time and always.
