Jun. 23, 1952 - Mon. Jul. 9, 2018

Funeral Details:

66, passed away peacefully on July 9th, supported by family at the Hospice Simcoe in Barrie after a lengthy and courageous fight against cancer.

Cheryl loved to travel and was active in the community working tirelessly in the past, supporting various organizations, such as Barrie Minor Baseball, Girl Guides of Canada and her great passion, providing years of loving foster care for rescue animals.

She will be sorely missed by all she touched, but especially her loving family. Husband Pat, Daughter Alicia, Son Derek, Daughter in Law Jillian and Grandson Brantson.

Cheryl and family wish to acknowledge the incredible care and support she received from the dedicated teams at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Center and the Hospice Simcoe.

A brief private family ceremony will be held at the Barrie Union Cemetery as requested by Cheryl.  In lieu of flowers and greetings your donations to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Center (http://foundation.rvh.on.ca/supporting-rvh/memorial-giving) or Hospice Simcoe (https://www.hospicesimcoe.ca/donating/)  would be very much appreciated and support the great work these two groups deliver.

I was so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a wonderful, giving, person. Although I didn’t see her often, whenever we would run into each other at a store, at a Beatles event or wherever, she was always happy to stand and talk and we would fill each other in on how the family was doing. She was a genuinely nice person and is going to be missed very much by myself and many others. Take care.

Pat, I’m at a loss on what to say. The brief times that Cheryl and I were together were certainly lively. Never in my life did I think she was carrying such a physical burden, and pass this earth before her time. She was a strong lady. I’m sorry for your loss, Alicia’s and Derek’s. Unfortunately, I still have months of rehab to go for my previous open heart surgery so I can’t travel, but my thoughts are always with you and your family. Take care my friend.
