Barrie, Ontario, Canada — Christa Maria Roessler, nee Oelze, born July 25, 1938 in Würzburg, Germany, passed away Tuesday the 31st of January, 2017 at Royal Victoria Hospital.
Christa immigrated to Toronto, Canada in November, 1963 and was a long-time resident of Barrie since 1998. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Winkelried (Win), her daughter Fiona & husband Robert (also known as Christa’s “favourite" son-in-law) who live in Minneapolis/St. Paul, USA, and 2 "grand-pups”/“grand-furbabies" Aria & Coco, as well as a sister, Monika, of Berlin, Germany. Christa was an Aunt to Klaus & Monika (daughter Sabine) Rössler of Schalksmühle, Germany; and a sister-in-law to Edith Oelze (son Fabian) of Meine, Germany.
As was her wish, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Christa’s Life will be held at Liberty North Banquet Hall, Barrie, on Saturday March 25, 2017 from 1 - 4pm. We have known her and Winke for close to 40 years and although we haven’t seen each for a long while we did keep in touch through xmas cards. Many years have passed since the 1960’s when we first met Christa & Winky at the German Canadian Club in downtown Toronto where we became good friends. We danced in competitions together and also met up in Holland for a holiday; so many happy memories…..
