Christina Hryhoruk

June 21, 1959 - April 28, 2020

Funeral Details:

Christina Doris Hryhoruk (nee Niewisiewicz), a resident of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, passed away at age 60 on Tuesday, April 28th at Toronto General Hospital.  She did not have Covid, but did have liver failure.  A graduate of the University of Guelph, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980.  She worked as a Law Clerk with experience in litigation, and more recently was employed by various downtown Toronto firms as a Legal Assistant.  Survived by her sister Monika Shepherdson (Daniel), nieces Bonnie Dickson and Crystal Stephens (Sheldon).  Due to the unprecedented world pandemic, in lieu of a traditional service, it would be appreciated to have any relatives and friends share some of their thoughts and memories of Chris here on her webpage.

A final poem that Chris wanted to share with those who cared for her:

“Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush

Of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am the starshine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room.

I am in the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there.  I do not die.”

Chris, my dear friend who could light up a room with her smile.

Always something funny to say even when things don’t go right.

We have been friends for 9 years and feel blessed to have known her. She was my mentor and always had time for me.

You are up above with the stars that shine and my memories of you can never be extinguished.

I have known Chris since childhood. Her parents John and Emma were best friends of my folks Fred and Nadine. It seems like just yesterday but, it’s not.

Chris and her folks stayed mostly in Toronto and we moved to the States. But, it seemed no matter what time passed – months and years l could talk with Chris and we would pick up as if we talked everyday.

Now it’s time to say so long Chris and wishing you eternal peace.

    You will never be forgotten.

I will think of you when watching a mighty sunset on a mighty river – forever flowing.

It is with sadness that we have to say goodbye to someone that I have known all my life. Chris, you were one of the best friends a boy could have growing up. We both started in the same shared house in Toronto and eventually shared a property line in Barrie on a farm! What fun and adventures we had there! So many fond memories. So many laughs together. May you Rest in Peace my friend, forever in my heart!

    Christine,

You invoke happy memories when I think about you, and your presence in your absence remains. Your many acts of kindness were part of your beautiful you, and when I was in need, you were there for me. Your incredible smile lit up my heart and made everything alright.

For now, I will have to miss you as your life continues on another plane.

Adieu for now, till we all meet again around a bonfire in the sky.

    Much love, your aunt Erika.

Thank you for sharing those thoughts. It still seems unreal at the moment that she is really gone.

I worked with Chris at GSNH for a short period of time and I wish I would have known her a little longer. The day that she left the firm, I was sad. I know that she is in a peaceful place and in very good hands. Safe journey my friend. So, instead of saying “good-bye”, I will just say, “until we meet again.”

I did not know Chris for very long which is unfortunate because I found her to be a warm, kind, and loving individual who always had a kind word and a smile for me when I stopped by her desk at GSNH every morning I was at the office before I had to work from home for medical reasons. I only recently learned of her passing. I will miss her!!!
