Christine Terese Pocknell (nee Thomas)

November 24, 1941 - November 15, 2022

It is with sadness, but fond memories that we remember the life of Christine, “Chris” Pocknell,
beloved wife of Charles “Charlie” Pocknell. Married in 1983, Charlie and Chris were preparing to
celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary in the coming year. She will be sorely missed by her
husband. After a battle with declining health, Chris slipped away peacefully with Charlie by her
side in her hospital room at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, on Tuesday,
November 15th, 2022. She will be remembered by her step-children, Dan (predeceased)
Pocknell (& Paddy Saari), Cindy (& Terry) Gibson and Kolleen Pocknell, along with
grandchildren, Crystal (Andrew), Jonathan (Danielle), Sarah (Thomas) and seven
great-grandchildren, Alana, Destiny, Kennedy, Wellington, Addison, TJ and Connolly. Chris will
be lovingly remembered by her siblings Nancy (Norman) Kazmark and Robert (Cynthia)
Thomas, along with nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Marg (predeceased Wes)
Wauchope and their children & grandchildren. It is with thankful hearts that we acknowledge the
wonderful support of close friends, Terry and Mary Ann Johnson. Chris thoroughly enjoyed her
beloved dogs throughout the years and her Black Lab, Katie, is already missing all the TLC she
was accustomed to receiving from Chris.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, November 21st, 2022 at 1:00 pm at
the Fraserburg United Church, 2275 Fraserburg Rd, Bracebridge, ON P1L 1X3. Built in
1884, Fraserburg United Church celebrates a cherished history and continues to capture
that rich history initially established in the 1800’s, with many of the original furnishings
remaining.

** Please note, due to the historical legacy and intentional preserving of the heritage of the
church, hydro is not provided and we would request that you dress very warmly and consider
bringing a blanket for your pew. You will experience a glimpse of what our ancestors did in the
1800’s, so come prepared and please plan to join the family for a time of fellowship at the
church following the service.
