Dearest Barb and daughters. I am deeply sorry for Claude’s passing. Claude is now with my Barry, true warriors, now free, of their disease.

Your husband/father was an amazing man! I knew him for 27 years, and from the very first day I met him in 1987 to the last time I saw him a month ago, he was the same caring, gentle and wise man. In these last four years we spent many hours together talking about his life, career and family. He was thankful for everything he had in life and many times would say to me ‘I have had a great life’. He would never let a visit pass without asking how my family was and what the kids were up to. He would then proudly tell me stories about his Lindsey and Jessica. When we met for coffee he always wanted to know how his Hydro buddies were and loved hearing stories about the trials and tribulations at Hydro One since his retirement. He was a true role model and those of us that watched him deal with his illness over the last few years, I think he made us realize that the little things in life mean nothing! Rest in peace my friend, I already miss our coffee dates we used to have. PS, I bet there are no NERC tests in heaven 🙂

Please accept our condolences on the loss of your husband and Father. A successful man grown from humble beginnings, he knew the value of honesty, respect and love. These values were  the gifts that he shared freely always with a smile and a gesture. Claude was a kind person and a wonderful friend who shared his strength, wisdoms and hopes easily and respectfully. We are very proud to have known him and all of you. Be well and know that we all believe he is flying with the angels he dreamed of and is happy

I must admit that this is one of those occassions which prove that  the good go young!  I recall working with Claude at Burlington, Middleport and the OGCC and shared many laughs and colourful discussions about life, work and family! Needless to say, Claude will be missed muchly!  My children remember Claude buying them pop, chips and chocolate bars and making them laugh, back in the day when we would have family just pop into the control rooms with coffee and / or lunch for everyone. Barb, Jessica and Lindsay, you have my deepest sympathy, it is always tough to say goodbye to a loved one, but as long as you have your memories and cherish them, Claude lives on through you and his other family members and friends!  He was a wonderful co-worker and friend!

    To three wonderful women,

My sincerest condolences to you on the loss of your father and husband.

Jess – one of my fondest memories of your dad was just last summer after he had come back from a walk with your mom and we were returning to your house after being out for breakfast. When I asked your dad how he was doing, he just said, “I’m actually doing really well given the situation,” with a little chuckle. Despite having just suffered a stroke, everything about that moment said so much about his optimistic character and thankfulness for the present moment; attributes we all need to practice more in our daily lives.

I can’t thank your dad enough for all of the wonderful qualities he passed along to you and your sister, who remain two of the strongest, determined, and most importantly, genuinely kind hearted people I know. For all of this, my heart breaks alongside yours. Please let this message serve as a reminder that I am here for you always in mourning and happiness, and through all of life’s trials and tribulations. You are truly an irreplaceable friend.

Barb and the whole Potvin Family. I started with Ontario Hydro with Claude in 1976 and ended up working with Claude at the OGCC on his crew.  Claude had a very positive outlook on everything and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. His work legacy will live on in the people he inspired and taught over the years.  He is what I would call a true gentleman and caring person.  He will be missed by us all!  My condolences to you and I hope all the memories that you have with Claude will help mend your hearts.
